SAN Jaarboek in Rijksmuseum

Animations for Cordaid
I was asked to make illusrtations and animations for two Cordaid commercials.
- CORDAID - The Catholic Organisation for Relief and Development Aid is a Dutch development agency operating worldwide. They fight poverty and exclusion in fragile states and areas of conflict and extreme inequality.
In order to stand up for the world's poorest and most marginalized communities, they raise funds in the Netherlands as well as internationally. Cordaid's main expertise lies in: reducing conflict, health and care for all, making local business prospor, saving lives & reducing risks.
Cordaid helps local communities increase their own resilience.

NRC: Opinie & Debat illustrations G500 edition
- The founders of G500 got the opportunity to fill an entire "Opinie & Debat" supplement (12 pages) of the NRC newspaper.
I was asked to make the illustrations for this production.
Below is a selection of images from the cover and the inside.
On the backside of the supplement people could play a game about trending topics in the upcoming elections. On the front they could check their scores on the political scale.
While the topics are serious, it was all done in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. Making people aware of the upcoming elections and their vote for a new tomorrow. It was a great to work with such talented and open-minded editors and designers.Ris van Overeem was responsible for the lay-out.Olaf Pieters made the concept for the election game.Sywert van Lienden was the guest editor in chief.

Portrait of André Kuipers
Here is a portrait i made of our new national hero, André Kuipers.
From Wikipedia:
André Kuipers: born 5 October 1958 is a Dutch physician and ESA astronaut. He became the second Dutch citizen, third Dutch-born and fifth Dutch-speaking astronaut upon launch of Soyuz TMA-4 on 19 April 2004. Kuipers returned to Earth aboard Soyuz TMA-3 11 days later.
Kuipers is the first Dutch astronaut to return to space. On 5 August 2009, Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs Maria van der Hoeven, announced Kuipers was selected as an astronaut for International Space Station (ISS) Expeditions 30 and 31. He was launched to space on 21 December 2011 and returned to Earth on 1 July 2012.
I tried to give the illustration the look and feel of an old trading card. This way i could emphasise his hero-like status.
André Kuipers has an amazing photostream on Flickr. Have a look here if you like to see some of the photo's he and his fellow crew members made from inside the ISS.
